When an owner of a property leases a unit to a person or corporation, both of them must sign a rental agreement letter. This letter legally acknowledges the agreement between the owner and the tenant. Meanwhile, the content of the letter varies according to the type of property being leased.

Dear Mr. Kojima,
In response to our phone conversation on November 22, 2018, about the apartment I have for rent at Wescam Court, Avondale Estates, Georgia, I am writing this letter in order to clarify the conditions of your contract. Please sign and send a copy of this letter if you agree with the terms. I will write a formal rental contract when I receive your agreement. The terms and conditions are as follow:
- The date of the beginning of the rental is December 1, 2018. The rental will terminate on December 1, 2019, but can be extended following certain conditions stated in the formal rental agreement.
- The apartment includes water and electricity but no furniture.
- The monthly rental fee is $1,400.
- A security deposit of $700 must be paid prior to move in. The deposit will be returned at the end of the contract.
- The apartment is not for commercial purposes.
- The rent should be paid by the rentee to the landlord by the 8th of every month. An additional fee of $150 is added if the rent is not paid on time.
- No pets are allowed on the property.
