The editors of the Bologna Center Journal of International Affairs are proud to announce that the theme for the 2012 edition is:

Power Shifts 

Revolution, Global Uncertainty and the Evolving Balance

 

We warmly invite the submission of papers for publication in this prestigious and internationally recognized journal. Over the last fifteen years, the BC Journal of International Affairs has published papers from world-renowned scholars and practitioners from across the globe, including Zbigniew Brezezinski, Romano Prodi and Francis Fukuyama.

Rarely has “uncertainty” been such an apt characterization of contemporary world affairs: Europe is at an economic and political crossroads, popular uprisings continue to roil the Middle East, and with the apparent commencement of American decline, the world awaits to see whether China, India, Brazil or some other state will seize a leading role on the global stage. Throughout the world and in all sorts of ways, power is shifting. 

We encourage contributions to the various salient contemporary academic and policy debates that concern shifts in power. We aim to publish a diverse range of papers exploring the manifold ways in which power is shifting throughout the world. We encourage papers with regional, functional and theoretical foci and also welcome critical reviews of books published within the last year that are relevant to our theme.

ARTICLE CRITERIA:

  • Article length should be between 4,000 - 4,500 words and in Microsoft Word format.
  • Authors should refer to the Chicago Manual of Style regarding grammar, style, format and citation.  Footnotes should be placed at the end of the article.
  • Technical jargon, equations and acronyms should be avoided.
  • Articles should contain an abstract of 60-100 words.
  • Submissions should include a cover letter with the author’s name, article title, contact information and a short 4-5 sentence biography written in the third person.
  • Joint or multiple author submissions are welcome.

BOOK REVIEW CRITERIA:

  • Book reviews should take the form of a critical commentary on a recently published book in the field of international affairs that is relevant to our theme.
  • Reviews should be approximately 1,500 words and no longer than 2,000 words.
