Jeffrey Wright, Editor in Chief

 

As Editor in Chief, Jeffrey developed this year’s theme of “Stalemates” and is responsible for directing the Journal’s operations.

 

Jeffrey is a first-year master’s student at Johns Hopkins SAIS, concentrating in Strategic Studies at the school’s Bologna, Italy campus. He grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in History, focused on the modern history of the Arab world. In 2011, he spent six months studying Arabic and history at the American University in Cairo. After completing his undergraduate studies, Jeffrey worked for a year at the Arab American Institute, a non-profit advocacy organization in Washington, DC that works on behalf of Arab Americans.

 

Jeff speaks English, Arabic, and Spanish, and looks forward to working on the Journal this year.  

 

 

Matt Melino, Co-Managing Editor for Print

 

As Co-Managing Editor for Print, Matt is responsible for overseeing the content published in the Journal.

 

Matt is a first-year master’s student concentrating in Conflict Management and International Economics at Johns Hopkins SAIS. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Italian Studies from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Matt spent his junior year abroad in Rome studying Italy’s role in the European Union and the Mediterranean region.

 

Prior to SAIS, Matt served as research assistant & program coordinator for the Europe Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) where he researched and analyzed political, economic, and security developments across the continent.  He is the author of several commentaries and reports on European politics, diplomacy, and security initiatives. Prior to joining CSIS, he was a program associate for the Stimson Center’s Security for a New Century Study Group.

 

Matt speaks English, Italian, and has elementary knowledge of Spanish.

 

 

Kshitij Neelakantan, Co-Managing Editor for Print  

 

As Co-Managing Editor for Print, Kshitij is responsible for overseeing the content published in the Journal.

 

Kshitij is a first-year master’s student concentrating in Energy, Resources and Environment at the Johns Hopkins SAIS Europe campus in Bologna, Italy. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Development Economics from The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, in London, UK. Before SAIS, Kshitij has previously been an Associate Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in Mumbai, where he worked on renewable energy policy.

 

Kshitij hails from Mumbai, India, and is fluent in English, Hindi, and Gujarati. He also speaks Spanish and Italian, although with less fluency than he might like. He loves sports, travelling, and reading, and hopes to live his dream as a vagabond writer exploring ever-remote parts of the world.

 

 

Laura Mojonnier, Managing Editor for Web

 

As Managing Editor for Web, Laura is responsible for the Journal’s web presence, including running its blog, larger website, and social media.

 

Laura is a first-year master’s student at Johns Hopkins SAIS, concentrating in International Economics and Latin American Studies. She has a Bachelor of Arts in History and English Literature from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

 

Before coming to SAIS, Laura spent 2.5 years as an immigration paralegal and case manager in Chicago, Illinois, working mostly with undocumented immigrants from Mexico and other parts of Latin America. Laura has also worked as a journalist, contributing to publications including the Argentina Independent and the San Francisco Bay Guardian. In addition to her time in Montreal and Chicago, she has studied in Quito, Ecuador, and lived and worked in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Laura is fluent in English and Spanish, speaks decent French, and is currently studying Portuguese.

 

 

Alix Davie, Executive Editor

As Executive Editor, Alix is responsible for the financial aspects of the journal, overseeing funding and administration.

 

Alix is a first-year master's student of Strategic Studies and International Economics at Johns Hopkins SAIS Europe. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and spent her junior year abroad in Madrid, Spain. She speaks English, Spanish, Arabic, and Italian, with varying degrees of fluency and sometimes all at once.

 

Prior to SAIS, Alix worked for five years, first as an office manager for a dance studio in Quebec, Canada; then as an Intellectual Property paralegal in a New York City firm; and finally as an intern with the Office of Protocol & Liaison at the United Nations Headquarters. She is a British-American dual citizen, her family lives in Singapore, and she enjoys traveling, reading, baking, and sailing. She hopes to someday combine all four into her own astonishingly successful multilingual talk show.
